!! Victory Announcement !! Chiedza’s success story

It is with immense pride that we share the triumphant outcome of Chiedza’s (not real name) case. Chiedza, one of our valued comrades, found herself facing physical threats after she bravely demanded her employer to pay her the contracted 39 hours she deserved. Thankfully, Chiedza had already joined a union, which turned out to be a crucial source of support during this trying time.

Feeling anxious and uncertain about the potential consequences, Chiedza reached out to PAWA’s first responders, seeking guidance and assistance. Our dedicated team provided her with reassurance and encouraged her to contact her trade union about the matter. As the breadwinner for her family, Chiedza was understandably concerned about not only losing her job but also her right to work in the UK.

With the unwavering support and assurance from PAWA’s first response team, Chiedza decided to take the matter to her trade union. Upon doing so, the union requested a meeting, which involved Chiedza, her union representative, and her employer. During the meeting, Chiedza’s union representative fearlessly addressed the issue of unpaid contracted hours and the disturbing incident of her being threatened with assault.

As a result of this brave confrontation, the employer issued a heartfelt apology for their actions and, most importantly, committed in writing to rectify the situation and ensure that Chiedza receives the rightful wages she is owed.

This outcome is nothing short of glorious! It serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role trade unions play in protecting workers’ rights and promoting fair treatment in the workplace. PAWA is incredibly proud to have supported Chiedza throughout this process, and her victory highlights the effectiveness and strength of collective action.

We wholeheartedly encourage everyone to consider joining a trade union and demand what is rightfully theirs. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a fair and just working environment for all.
